Hi,

I just downloaded the trial version of the OoN. We're deploying a virtualized solution based on Windows 2008 Hyper-V. The guest OS is Windows 2003 R2. When I connect the USB Hard drive on the W2008, the server UoN reconized it without problems (I've used the solution in http://www.usb-over-network.com/forum/board-usbovernetwork-action-display-num-123545763.html), but after I shared it, and I connected in the guest OS, I get the "A problem ocurred during your hardware instalation...", and the yellow exclamation is show in the Device manager.
Could you please help me?.

Ok, here's the solution

Press F8 before Windows 2008 starts, select Disable Driver Signing, and that's it.

I have the same problem, but the "F8" trick dosn't work for me.
I have a Win2008 x64 server with hyper-v active. in hyper-v I am running a WinXP x32 client virtual machine.
on the Win2008 host I installed the server software of "usb over network", on WinXP the client software of "usb over network".
on the server, the usb stick is recognized and workung fine. when I share it and try to connect with the XP virtual machine, I get the same "a problem ocured during..." error message.

any further ideas?

Hi,

Please check if usbd.sys file is present in system32/drivers folder in WinXP x32 client virtual machine.
If not, copy it there from DriverCache.

thanks for the hint!
the usbd.sys file in system32 really was missing! so I extracted it from the DriverCache CAB file.
unfortunately this didn't solve my problem and I still get the same error message.

any further ideas?
are there some .inf files needed that may be missing too?

1) You need to reboot client PC
2) Are device drivers installed on client side? If not, please install it.
3) If the device sill appears as "problem", could you please right click it and provide us with "Device Status" text.

what device drivers? I am using different normal usb sticks for testing, which normaly don't need any drivers to be installed.

the device status says (sorry, it's a german XP client):

Klicken Sie auf "Problembehandlung", um die Problembehandlung für dieses Gerät zu starten.

means: device drivers can not be found. it's probably broken or not available (code 39).
for further information, click on troubleshooting...

in the meantime, i will install another fresh virtual machine (win2003) to see, if the problem ist the same.

OK, it's interesting to try use another Win2003 Server.
Also it would be great if you can test it on non-Win2003 Server, e.g. XP. Just to locate the issue.

I installed an other virtual machine (this time win2003): same probelm as on the XP virtual machines.

the other virtual machines where winXP.

PERFECT! this version works without any problems on win2003 and winXP!  :D

so we are one step closer to use hyper-v in our environment!
