Title: Disconnect Alert & IP Priority
Post by Mukka on Mar 4th, 2007, 6:35am
Dear FabulaTech Team,

I would like to propose to add 2 features in next Usb2Net version:

- an option that will send an E-mail alert if client has been disconnected for XX minutes/hours from specified USB shared device.

- an option that will give IP priority. If a user with higher IP priority want connect on an already shared device (and in use) other client with less priority will be disconnected.

To prevent "hard" disconnection maybe a pop-up alert that inform others about incoming disconnection would be nice.

I hope u could at least implement 1st idea as I need to be advertised when a client disconnect from server.....

Thanks you

Best Regards!

Hi Mukka,
Thank you for your suggestions.
Yes, we'll implement similar features in the nearest versions of USB over Network. So, you will be able to connect the USB device even if it is connected by other client. This option will be password protected. Also USB over Network server will also display notifications about USB devices connecting/disconnecting.

Regards!

Why not always have a password dialog for connecting?

Pop-up alert are ok but probably an e-mail alert option would be more usefull for network administrators...  ;D

What's about add a connection time limit? It could be set-up in 2 ways:

- XX minutes for each IP
- XX minutes for each password

Admin's will be able to set-up 1 password that will just allow user to connect for only XX minutes ecc.... or XX minutes for each IP ;-P

Just a crazy idea ehehe

l8r!

Yes..
And a history so can see what ip connected and what time it connected and what time it disconnected to.

This would be very great.
Now anyone can login if just know ip and port and is not so good.
Better if have password dialog and a history so can see from were people connect :)

Yes, that's good feature also. We'll add events log (incoming network connection events will be included also).

About password protection, as I sad before, we'll add it too.

Thanks.

A password is a very good idea, how about using Windows security with Active Directory?
